LATN 001 : Elementary Latin I

Introduces the fundamentals of the language and reading of simple prose, with supplementary reading on Roman civilization. Not open to students who have received admission credit in Latin.  Offered only in FALL semester.

LATN 002 : Elementary Latin II

Increases emphasis on reading while continuing what was started in Latin 001. Prerequisite: LATN 001.

LATN 003 : Intermediate Latin III

Reviews the language and selected readings in prose and poetry. Prerequisite: Two or three units of secondary Latin or LATN 002.

LATN 004 : Intermediate Latin IV

Includes the reading of selections from major authors, usually in poetry. Prereq: three or four units of secondary Latin or LATN 003.

LATN 152 : Latin Prose Composition3

Latin Composition solidifies the student’s knowledge of Latin syntax and style through intensive practice in writing Latin. Composition exercises are performed in tandem with selections from the prose masters, notably Caesar and Cicero. The course is open to students who have successfully completed Latin 1-4 or the equivalent, is required for certification for Latin teaching in most public school systems.
