Sociology (B.A.)

"As a major discipline in the social sciences, sociology studies how various social structures and systems, such as families or healthcare, economic structure, labor market, healthcare, or criminal justice influence people’s life chances in different ways. Sociology also examines how individuals and organizations come together to make social change. At Howard University, we pride ourselves on the research we do and the courses we offer that accentuate our overarching departmental theme: Race, Inequality, and the Black Experience. Here, you get training in both conceptual and empirical tools to analyze social issues pertinent to the Black community, e.g., health inequalities, criminal injustice, or socioeconomic inequalities."
