MEEG 311 : Mechanical Design II

Explore frictional and wear considerations in the design of mechanical systems. Designing of rolling contact bearings, gears, clutches, brakes, and flexible mechanical elements are examined. Boundary layer lubrication, mixed lubrication and hydrodynamic lubrication pertaining to journal bearings, pressure-fed bearings are studied. Topics on spur, helical, bevel and worm gears are analyzed. Kinematics of gear trains, planetary gear trains, force analysis, wear and manufacturing aspects of gear are considered.
