ARAB 001 : Arabic I

Prepares the student to gain the basic language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing). Prerequisite: None

ARAB 002 : Arabic II

Reinforces the range of skills practiced in ARAB 001 while focusing on expanding the students' vocabulary and fluency. The emphasis is on active participation as a means of expanding speaking, listening, reading and writing skills introduced in Arabic 001. Students are prepared to handle real situations in foreign culture. Prerequisite: ARAB 001

ARAB 003 : Arabic III

Stregthens the development of audio-lingual and written skills, with reading, oral discussion and presentation of grammar. Students begin to appreciate the richness of the target community. Prerequisite: ARAB 002

ARAB 004 : Arabic IV

Increases ability to read texts that focus on literature and culture. Emphasis is placed on speaking, reading, writing and vocabulary expansion. The course helps students to develop skills in reading and writing culturally enriched materials. Prerequisite: Prerequisite: ARAB 003

ARAB 040 : Grammar Review

Prepares students to master major elements of of Arabic grammar to increase students' skills in the language. As a core course in the minor sequence of Arabic, it provides students with sufficient control of basic grammatical elements of the language to increase accuracy in their functionality. Prerequisite: ARAB 004

ARAB 050 : Oral Expression I

Develops speaking and listening skills through a variety of instructional strategies. Enables students to have control of basic Arabic language and to express their their ideas with fluency and accuracy. Prerequisite: ARAB 004

ARAB 051 : Oral Expression II

Prepares students for a thorough review and practice of major elements of the target language linguistic structures. Prerequisites: ARAB 040 and ARAB 050
